I will be visiting family around that time in NY. Just wondering what might be some good activities for Christmas Day? Is there a parade or something that might be worth going?

Google only results in the thanksgiving parade, but nothing for Christmas.

not that I know of ... Christmas Day is usually pretty quiet in the city, some people go to Central Park to hang out weather permitting.

My gf and I are volunteering at a local animal rescue on Christmas Day

Thanks.

Do you recommend doing any touristy stuff that is specific to Christmas in NY?

Def. see the Rockefeller Center Tree, then stroll down 5th Ave to Bryant Park - they've put down a free ice-skating rink there, double back and go to DB Bistro Moderne or Triomphe on 44th for some great food. All this is within 5-6 blocks.

... I work on 44th :)
