Lead free video card?

The title just struck me as kind of odd.

Lots of semiconductors are moving toward adhering to RoHS standards. Good to see video cards are jumping on the bandwagon.

IIRC, the EU requires all electronics to be RoHS compliant (if not now, in the relatively near future) in order for them to be sold in their member countries, hence why there's been such a rapid shift to it.

i still don't get ppl obbsessiuon with lead free stuff. i understand feul cuz oxides of lead are pretty dangeroius but metallic lead especcailly in hardware that does not have food does no one harm.

This type of ignorance is the only reason why we have enviromental problems. Sure everyone thinks that one person doing anything wont do much. Problem is when millions of people think the same and do it, its no longer insignificant.

Every journey begins with a single step. The fact that companies are becoming more environmentally friendly (even if forced to by regulation) means a better environment. I understand that technology can't be 100% environmentally friendly but that doesn't mean we shouldn't reduce the impact as much as is possible. When I go out fishing, I don't want to find out later the fish I had for dinner has both sex organs or three eyes if you know what I mean.

Its either selling points or law suits which move a company into doing something different. In the case of microsoft even law suits dont change their practices much.
Its sad but we cant help it 🙁 much.

I think the point was simply to state the fact that it's RoHS compliant. I wouldn't call it a selling point (though it is if you're in Europe 😛)
