I've seen auctions where the shipping cost is something like $750 and the bidding starts off at $1.
The idea is that if the bidding ends at $200, eBay fees only get to collect ~$5 (2.75%) versus, say, ~$25 if the final price before shipping is $850 if it was an auction with shipping at only $20.
I'm just wondering if this strategy will backfire completely because people see $750 shipping and get outraged and not bid entirely.
