For the driving test, do they check if your back up (white) light works or not?

They didn't check mine. I live in FL though.

They checked for brake light, signal lights, headlights, windshield wiper and the horn.

they only ask you to turn the blinks on and check the brake lights.

I don't think they want to stand behind the car as you put the car in reverse for them to check. What if you are a horrible drive and let go of the brake.

But I'm not your best guide. I've took it 5 years ago and the dmv that day was running 2 hours behind, I drove around the block, 5 minutes and they gave me my license.

I read the paper really carefully and it doesnt say you need working backup lights so if they don't let me take the test, can I show them the sheet and tell them to point where it says you need them?

my blazers back up lights only worked in neutral (long story) so when she asked me to put it in reverse and check for the lights, i had previously planned for this and parked in a parking space with a slope :) :) :) needless to say, i oWn3d the DMV people and got away with it! ;)

they check your brake lights and signals from behind but they don't stand behind the car and have you back up to make sure the white lights are working

I don't remember them checking my vehicle for that stuff at all... was all about the driving skill and awareness...

She did want the damned A/C to work though. ;)

<-- NY'ker.

I didnt know you needed an appointment for the driving test so I waited at the DMV for 1 1/2 hrs for nothing. :(
