News For the Adventurous: Moore Threads GPU tested

I like the "Infinite Power to Power the Infinity" tag line they have on their website.

Computerbase actually reviewed this last November, so it's been around for a while apparently.

This thing getting beat by an almost decade old low-end NVidia card in some games and the 200ms spikes in frame time latency is pretty bad. The card drawing over 100W even at idle is just concerning. What's it even doing with that power?

very impressive

the iteration is going to be where this will make news

worry about their start point, power vr was a failure, and have to think that might hold them back

S80 is on 12nm. If they get N2 level process and balloon to a 600mm2 die from a ~400mm2 today then their claims are possible. While they are far behind even Intel, they are executing way faster than them. The Chinese cost lot less to maintain their company and are much more efficient as evidenced by DeepSeek.

Compatibility-wise, it'll take longer, but the raw silicon is not impossible to reach and not just a mere fantasy.

Aren't Moore Threads locked out of Samsung, TSMC and Intel? If they're using SMIC with a DUV process, there's no way these targets will be reached.
