If you're school qualifies from the dreamspark premium program, you're able to access free Windows software, including multiple OS's.

Check your schools availability at this link:

The DreamSpark Premium accounts have just been updated to include Windows 8.1

If you happen to have no need for a Windows 7 key I could gladly use one. PM me

The premium accounts are where the free OS's can be found. The premium accounts are usually linked to IT/CIS courses or any field in the STEM program given the ok by Microsoft.

My Uni still hasn't deactivated my old Computer Science account. I dropped that major 2 years ago.

Ive used Dreamspark to build several computers already. No cost for OS.

Oh damn I have all 198 from my college =O! Thanks OP!
EDIT: Please don't PM me asking for stuff..

you have to make sure you're school is signed up for premium accounts, the link should provide a school listing some where on there

I don't get it... I logged in to my school, various items show up (including free Windows 7 and 8.1), I try getting things, but it says I'm "not eligible". I click on the "My eligibility" link and it shows me this:

Organization: University of Redacted
User Groups: Students/Faculty/Staff
Verification Method: Verified by institution
Status: Verified (Expires 2015-01-14)

Sometimes, if your account is new, you have to be verified by the Schools Admin. However it does say your verified, maybe try to ask the admin directly through one of the help links on your school's hub page.

Just to let you know, this has always been the case and it isn't something new. Typically all students have access to it but certain departments get more software. Math, engineering, CS, etc usually get the OS keys.

I see my school listed with DreamSpark Premium WebStore so I will keep this in mind for my new laptop

Any similar deals for MS Office? This is the one I really need
