you should clarify your question..... in single thread apps? like games? right now? or in future (eg. with next ut being apparently multithread)

edit: In future, wasnt the manufacturing process supposed to be like the cache sizes now? eg, produce cores with 2 or more cores, then if one of them is faulty, sell it as a single core cpu?

faster gpu's do much more for gaming performance that faster cpu's

I leave it up to each person and their personal needs. Most will probably need a faster single core CPU for gaming.
