A freshly chipped AMD cpu :|

WHY THE HELL DO THEY MAKE THEM THINGS SO DAMN FRAGILE!!! :|

Does Intel have this "chipping" problem?

If not I may switch brands!

Ahhh...that's crap. It does have a warranty though, did you check to make sure this isn't covered?

It's not their fault you broke your CPU. Just be more careful. I do think they should make some way to protect the core though.

I popped the top casing off my old K6-2/300. Have never had any problems with it, it's still running fine, even though the corners are chipped from getting the heatsink on there at odd angles. I can't believe it still works, but it does. The K6-2 must have more space inbetween the edges and actual circuitry than the Athlon does.

Hard lesson. Do like i did with the first one i fried when my water block came loose... Hang it from your rear view mirror. When friends get into my truck they ask me what the heck is that? I tell them with a smirk... A $120 reminder that sometimes "good enough" is good enough.
