For sale/ trade deals - are the sellers overoptimistic?

I am new to these boards, looking for a USED AGP video card. All sellers in the "for sale" section are asking the RETAIL price for their cards. I understand these gadgets are near and dear to them, but to have the nerve to ask the RETAIL price for a used product? I used to have a higher opinion of computer geeks out there, seems like they are out of touch with the reality.
Well, I guess pricewatch here I come.

Most of the prices i see listed for everything in FS/FT is usually right on, good prices.

I rarely see them going for that much and if they do get close to that amount, it includes shipping.

I don't think I've seen something sell for retail on FS/T in the last couple years.

It seems that the only people who post prices that are too high are the n00bs who think this is ebay.

hm i don't know what cards you're looking at, but the deals in FS/FT are good... much better than anything you'll find in retail or ebay.

My bad, did not mean to paint "sellers" bad.
What I meant was that compare to pricewatch the prices kinda match. But vendors on pricewatch are at least selling NEW stuff (even if sometimes this can be a wrong overstatement as well) and in "for sale/ fot trade" forum people are asking the same price as on price watch for the USED stuff!

You got to keep in mind that a lot of the dealers listed on pricewatch aren't exactly reputable. Be sure to check their rating at ResellerRatings.com before buying anything from them.

I hardly see anything go for retail price around here, This is the only forum where I purchase from its members, and usually its in great quality with good prices.

There are some VERY good deals, and there are some not even worth taking. Keep looking, you'll find some good deals.
