If you didn't believe it before it is time to start believing. Climate Change

Do you still not believe? If so, why? Have you done your research recently?

Do you think that we will do anything about it?

Oh good Lord not this again. Earth goes through cyclical climate changes, always has, always will. What am I going to do about it? I'm going to go fill up my SUV and drive around endlessly for no good reason.

I know you haven't been here that long so I'll be kind.

Do a search for global warming. All the debate info is there.

If you really are concerned about these types of issue I would suggest reading Asphalt Nation.

the problem with the data is its usually recorded from inside cities, which hold heat really well. take the temps in the middle of a corn field and you might get a completely different trend. they take them from the stratosphere and they then the other problem is if global warming is real, do people have any control over that

No, see there is a consensus now. Everyone agrees that HUMAN induced global warming is happening. True, earth goes through warming and cooling cycles. Heck, we are expected to enter an ice-age within 600 years.

Do you guys simply not care that we are driving extinction? Or do you not believe it?

Human induced Climate Change was a controversial issue a few year ago but not anymore.

The urban heat island effect is taken into consideration when analyzing these data sets.

Everyone huh. LOL

Show us then. Where does it say that ALL scientists are now in agreement.

Oh Wait I found it!!! 11 scientists!! HAHAHAHAHA.

Spare us will ya please?

Sorry but you are wrong. Take a look at the study and you will see how they register warming.

Some people on this forum like to believe the "research" done by oil companies and the like. Plus they point to petitions signed "scientists" who think that global warming is a crock.....

Yeeeeahh - but this board is predominantly inhabited by very opinionated uber-conservatives, so the debate you'll find is typically one-sided.

Thanks for the referral. But I don't think I'll be reading it. I am concerned by these types of issues and in fact they are what I am studying in school.

Yeah like the head of global warming studies at MIT or the first guy who even came up with the theory

You need to read more.

BTW, lets read what the article REALLY said:

"We know that greenhouse gases are accumulating in Earth's atmosphere, causing surface temperatures to rise," said committee chair Ralph Cicerone, chancellor, University of California at Irvine. "We don't know precisely how much of this rise to date is from human activities, but based on physical principles and highly sophisticated computer models, we expect the warming to continue because of greenhouse gas emissions."

They can't even state a majority of greenhouse gas is produced by humans! LOL!!!

Next time read the article. Save yourself the embarassment.

Dont make this so easy :)

Well, duh... It's been warming since the last ice age. So as far as I'm concerned Texmaster can keep pumping and refining his oil straight into my SUV. :D

How about the United Nations (under the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change, a consortium of thousands of scientists). Or the National Academy of Sciences, or all of the scientific journals?

You don't even know how science works. For something to be published in a reputable journal, it needs to be peer-reviewed. The studies are not wrong. Do you think that the reports that come out of an accumulation of thousands of studies are wrong?

LOL I wouldn't be slamming the intelligence of anyone if I were you :)

As I pointed out in the article you posted they can't even conclude the amount of greenhouse produced by humans.

Your arguement is null and viod :)

Next time read the article before posting, save yourself the emabarassment :)

I'm not sure what that last sentence means...

They can't state that because they don't know that for sure. Greenhouse gases are naturally occurring in our atmosphere. They do know however, data about certain greenhouse gases. They know the rate at which we are adding them. All that they are saying is that there aren't enough studies out there to make a final conclusion.

When you read a summary, they try to present an unbiased answer. If you read the actual report, they will supply evidence for one side and then say that there is a possibility that something else could be true. But all evidence points ONE WAY.

Then try keeping out Official and Confirmed in your title LOL!!!

And which way is that? I want you to say it. Since all of these scientists you quote CANNOT find ANY evidence that humans are even partially responsible for global warming.

You've yet to speak anything truer! See, I can take things out of context to use them to my advantage as well. :)

<<You read the actual report, they will supply evidence for one side and then say that there is a possibility that something else could be true.>>

Obviously, since they're only looking at evidence from one side.

Huh?? That quote states that warming will continue due to human greenhouse gas emissions. Just because they can't quantify the exact amount of human greenhouse gas emissions doesn't mean their conclusions are invalid...
