Just a note of humor, I was at wally world looking at the HD dvd rack. A family of look alike Manson followers stood behind me looking at dvd's. One ask the other "what are these, HD and Blueray?". The other family member answered "its just a scam to get people to buy all new movies, like VHS and Betamax. Just another scam".

I could have turned and educated them a bit, but thought whats the use. Just wait till their tv stops getting ota SD channels and they have to get a converter box. The ole converter box scam?

in the end, though...they're smarter than us. 😉

Most of my BDs were purchased from the Amazon BOGO deal between $10-$15 a piece which is the same price range that I use to buy DVDs at. Of course, I also get some for around $8 a piece on those Best of Blu-Ray pack.

The HD DVD that I bought individually are typically around $12-$15. My most expensive title is Bladerunner which is a deluxe set. And then there are the 10 titles that come with the player.

To answer the OP, I would choose the HD DVD version since the supply will dwindle.
