So you're at your ideal weight? I saw some show where some dude lost a lot of weight and all that was left was a bunch of excess skin. It was kinda freaky.

I'm curious cause i plan on losing a ton of weight, i'm at 255 right now and would like to get to 190. Well, i guess i'll start another day, cause i'm off to In n Out before they close. :D:eek:

I have no idea at all. I would guess that extra skin problems will be more apparent the older you get as the skin gets to be less elastic due to age. If you're young and you're loosing it gradually I think the skin won't be a problem and the stretch marks will fade. But thats just a guess :D

Does it really matter?

I don't think anyone would want to remain overweight simply because they dont want to end up with some saggy skin

/edit

With the amount of weight you stated you needed to lose, no thats not enough.
It would take a significant amount of weight loss for the saggy skin effect. Also depends on the speed you
take the weight off, your skin may not be able to keep up with a rapidly shrinking body.

For most people, no they do not seem to go away...

Well, the skin does, but the marks don't.

I was up to 240lbs at one point (ack!!!) before I got myself down to 190lbs about two years ago. I still have stretch marks from where the fat used to be around my waist. Its weird, but they are a reminder of what happens when you eat too much.

A couple of things to do when losing your weight to avoid the extra skin problem:

Drink plenty of water.
Lose the weight gradually (should do this anyway to be healthy)
Exercise regularly
Take vitamin E capsules along with a multi-vitamin

i read that you get skin marks when you follow crash diets (i.e trying to lose a lot of weight quickly)

Younger you are the better but if you're losing a LOT no it's not likely to go away without a doctor. I saw a guy on TV who weighed like 1000 lbs and he had what looked like a beachball of fleshy skin in front after he lost the weight. Quite tastey.

If you are loosing weight through a weight loss program of reduced calories and increased exercise, then your skin will tighten up as you loose. If you are considering having gastroplasmy type surgery, then it's a different story; your body sheds the weight too quickly for the skin to catch up right away, so you do end up with some loose skin. If you are young enough, that extra skin will tighten up over time and with exercise, but if you are older, surgery is needed to tighten up. As for scars, those need a good cosmetic doctor's help; they have crèmes and other remedies for scar lightening and removal.
I know several people who have had gastro type surgery (stomach stapling), and the results very from person to person.

The stretch marks won't, but if you're young, I'm sure the extra skin will.

Your skin has this thing called elasticity if properly hydrated, no you wont sag. If you've lost elasticity due to being over weight and killing any cells that might have had a chance of ever again being full of elasticity then your shitte out of luck!

As for stretch marks there is this other thing you can get called Retinal A (Usualy perscribed by a doctor in higher doeses then you can buy over the counter) said to take away aging spots and stretch marks, commonly used to treat people with acne scaring.
