For over X years, X Company has been an industry leader in providing X Product designed to meet your specific needs.

Come on... give us a break. Can a company come up with a better intro than this?
Does every single company use this line?

It really annoys me when you have been working in the industry, and the company says "For over 5 years... have been industry leader..."

Seriously. If you were an industry leader, you would have been in business longer than 5 years... and I would have heard of you by now.

Teaching your cats the Gospel of Christ isn't just important for their eternal souls, it is also the only way to ensure that they know an eternity of damnation awaits them if they scratch your favorite chair. Before they cough up a hairball on the rug or leave a dead mouse on the doorstep, they'll know?without being scolded?that they had better watch it, as a Final Judgment awaits at the hands of the Lord.

Yes, I much prefer this line:

"We just opened our doors and we suck at what we're doing, but hopefully we can fool enough tards to spend the money to keep us in business."

so instead of the bolded parts your ranting more-so on the term "industry leader"? at least that would've made a much better rant...

I would love to see a company use that on their commercials. Especially the "tards" part.

I agree that this phrase is used much too often. So much to the point where I never believe it when it is told to me.

It doesn't say the business has been around for 5 years, but that it's been a leader for 5 years.

You, comprehension, ftl.

If you've ever seen what the OP is referring to, you'd know that it invariably DOES refer to the length of time the company has been in business. They don't use any sort of objective measurement to determine that they are an industry leader, they just appoint themselves an industry leader. It's a nonsense buzzword(phrase) that companies use.

I do see what you're saying, but for the sake of being correct it should be.. "X Years... Y Company... Z Product". Carry on..
