For OCing, which board: Maximus Formula or GB DS3R?

I've been running the Asus Maximus Formula board for a few months now, and while I can't put my finger on it, there's just something about it I don't like. Maybe it's the overly complicated BIOS, or the fact that it with my Q6600 doesn't like 400fsb.

As of right now, I've got the Q6600 in it, watercooled, etc etc.

In short, I'm build a new computer for my mother, and I've done it a bit overkill. Using my old E6600, a 9600gt, and 2 gigs of ballistix 800. Yes I know, it's overdone, but let's leave it at that for now.

I've read quite a bit about the GB DS3R and it seems to been quite well received over the months. So I chose it for the madre's rebuild.

Now, I can't decide if I want to nick it for myself and give her the Maximus Formula because of the OC'ing problems I've had with it (this is across two different Q6600s and the E6600, several different BIOS revisions, etc.)

Would it be retarded to keep the DS3R over the Maximus Formula? The DS3R seems to be the board of choice on this forum, but maybe I'm not reading the right threads.

Somehow I forgot to note this is the new revision 2 DS3R, EP35 'edition'.

Thanks

you need to go to 401 fsb + on your maximus formula. That will get to another strap and should greatly enhance your stability.

no, don't keep the ds3r. give it to mom.

I've got the strap set on Auto right now, because it's something I really don't understand how/why it works. I presume that if I go 401 or over FSB, the strap will bump up to 400mhz?

Thanks for your help btw

Have you coverted your Maximus Formula to the Rampage? The latest 0401 BIOS just released today for the Rampage is doing quite well with quads.
