For music would upgrading from a monster mx300 to a Audigy be worth it

Most definite....I had a Xitel Storm Plantium vortex2 soundcard, drivers for XP were ok but were lacking in the music department, got my self the Audigy and all I can say is WoW! the difference was huge for me, not so much in gaming but my tunes sounded cleaner and way louder...made my old crappy speakers sound way bad, so I got the LogitechZ560's , I was glad I upgraded, don't think you'd be disappointed.....the only downside now is I acually have to add " checking for soundcard driver updates" to my to-do list......for like the past 3 years, never had to worry about updating those drivers, lol.

The MX300 is/was an excellent sound card. One of my personal favorites, but...
I think you would really like the Audigy!

How long have you had the MX300?

I gave my santa cruz to my brother (a very painful moment) to replace his mx300 (win2k) and he definitely noticed an increase in sound quality.

out of all my sound cards (sblive value, audigy, santa cruz), the santa cruz was my favourite. Worked like a charm with my kt133a, and flexible options.

I use my audigy because I got a hoontech add-on for optical out.

I've had my mx300 for seems like 2 years. I've really liked it but there havent been any driver updates since the 2048s that I know about. Just thought that the newer cards would probably have better sound. I think I will give the audigy a shot. If I dont like it I guess its back to the monster. Thanks to all who replied.
