So check this out. About a year and 8 months ago I got my first PC...I had been an avid Mac user/programmer up until that point and never thought I'd convert.
My friend told me there was this new and revolutionary chip coming out called the "Athlon" which I thought was just smoke and mirrors, but WTH it was cheap. So I go through Next Tech Inc. (won't give the link unless people specifically ask cuz I'm not a plugger, but they have good deals) and get my Athlon system all pimped out with an MSI6167 mobo.
Computer arrives and GUESS WHAT!?!?!? EVERY single time I restart the graphics system gets shot in the face and I get 16 colors at like 16x16 resolution. For a first-time PC guy this made me want to KILL.
What was the problem you ask??? It was the DAMN USB mouse. It was a Logitech Wheel Mouse, and I had to use the PS2 adapter to make it work. From that day a year and 8 months ago up until last night, I had never gotten the mouse to work through USB. I flashed the crap out of my BIOS and think I did some kind of firmware update on the board, I dunno it's been awhile. But last night I got Logitech's Mouseware 9.00 all inclusive driver suite for all their products, and BAM. So if anyone has been having that same problem, there's an answer. It might have to do with the Sp1 and Sp2 update also, but I doubt it since the problem following me from Win98 to Win2k.
