I think the other wizards were mentioned, but not talked about like radagast, gandalf, and sauraman were. Wasn't that elf at the mountain place with the blue ring (I forget names it was a long time ago) a wizard or something.

Regarding Wizards:

"Of this order the number is unknown; but of those that came to the North of Middle-earth . . . the chiefs were five."

We know of Saruman (white), Gandalf(gray) and Radagast (brown).

"Others there were also: two clad in sea-blue . . . they had no names save Ithryn Luin 'the Blue Wizards'; for they passed into the East with Curunir, but they never returned . . ."

Quoted from "The Istari" in J.R.R. Tolkein's Unfinished Tales.

i hope that answers your question, Triumph.

I just started reading The Hobbit (I know, I know, I'm behind :) ) Which books come after in for the Lord Of The Ring series? I want to read this thing before the movie comes out!

The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King

I pulled those names out of my head from 5 years ago when I was in 5th grade. If I'm wrong, please feel free to flame me.

Yes, that is correct for the "Lord of the Rings". But don't forget "The Silmarillion" and "Unfinished Tales".

The Fellowship of the Ring. (not Rings) flames :)

Thanks.

If you try to read The Silmarillion, I admire your guts, but if your brain starts to explode don't say I didn't warn you.

DO NOT read The Silmarillion until AFTER you finish the Lord of the Rings.

It is more tales and a lot of prehistory to the LOTR (it was never completed fully and put together by JRR's son. If you really like it then go for Unfinished Tales.

Personally, I think the Hobbit is better than the LOTR series...although I love all 4 books. As for Silmarillion, argghh...I didn't understand it so I stopped reading it after 5 pages.

I read through the silmarillion, though I didnt bring anything out of it. Its more difficult by a factor of a kagillion(hows THAT for exaggeration) than trying to read the Bible.

Oh, and thanks for the link Dennis

Gandalf was originally Gray. After his fight with the Balrog and his return from death he became White to replace the traitor Saruman as head of his order.

I was thinking the exact same thing as Kami...so I went to amazon and did a search for LOTR - I wanna buy a boxed set and reread the series.

and I stumbled upon "Bored of the Rings," a parody:

Actually, I have to buy The Hobbit again since my ex-wife has it. I do have a deluxe illustrated edition of The Lord Of The Rings but right now I cannot find volume 2. I hope I just misplaced it and not lent it, otherwise arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :|
