and why didn't nobody tell me? I ran a search using the link and found nothing, did they do a direct link? this puzzles me.
 
I use IM for most of my online communication, email isn't important enough for me to bother checking mail more than once every week or two, unless I'm expecting some. And repost. And wrong forum.

Yeah, just a little area that will let you know how many new messages you have would be a real nice addition to the Google toolbar.
