Hey everybody, I know this isn't a "Hot Deal" but most of the ppl that bought these drives only look at this forum.

Anyway, I was reading dud's post and it reminded me that I should probably post this simple fix I made for my Sandisk 512MB flashdrive I picked for $10 from this deal.

I had the same problem where the "larger" cover kept coming off, so I made quick mod to keep it on.

Here's a link to the instructions on how I did it:
ENJOY :p <-- Fixed - Thanks hevnsnt ;)

--BTW, the elastic string I used came from a shirt I bought. Its the string they used to attach the price tag and company info stuff to the shirt.

I had no idea that leaving a simple comment about that cover would generate this thread! Thanks for the very detailed instructions, I will give it a try.

One thing though, I've been trying to understand why the cover, that was snug and tight just a few months ago, would be so loose now? There is no visible wear on either the outside of the drive or the inside of the cover. Either the drive has shrunk (?) or the case has expanded. Go figure ...

I really wouldn't do that if I were you. The whole reason that plastic wrap works is static electricity, and I think we all know that static electricity and electronics don't mix. Maybe it isn't enough to be of concern, but I wouldn't do it myself.

Great idea, I wonder why the manufactures don't do this. Surely it's <2 minutes to automate this assembly during assembly (which is already done by hand.)
