Alright so I was planning on getting Crysis... till later I find out that my current GPU just would not cut it. So I set out to see all of the minimal system requirements that would be able to handle the game. Of course all this is being done while I?m on a budget; I didn?t really find anything that was worth buying at the time of Crysis being out. The 8800GT had not been out yet, but I was told if I waited at the time that it would be out in a couple of months or so (give or take a few)?and boy was I happy to wait because, at the time when it did come out I found out that Zotac, a company that had barley been known to the USA had a card that did some serous gamming I mean all of the forums had reviews on this company and its new 8800GT AMP edition. This is the card the people all over in the UK and Germany and escpiacally China were talking about. Sadly I could not purchase the card here in the USA since the company was based in China. So I sent them an email and luckily I found out that Zotac was expanding worldwide, by January of 2008 Zotac had over 45 models to offer to the USA. I was able to purchase 2 8800GT AMP editions. And let me tell l you I am extremely happy that I got them they are the best cards I have ever had in my life. I have been gamming for quite some time and I have used everything from BFG, EVGA, Gainward, PNY, XFX, Foxconn, Asus, and MSI and Gigabyte. I just turned it on and played Crysis for the first time without my old XFX 6800 AGP?LOL?I was blown away with the quality of the card. It literally OWNED every other vendor I had ever used. The specs were just as good as Asus?s and EVGA?s and Zotac?s was Cheaper? I did a lot of research when I was looking for a GPU and I mean a lot I found a lot of good reviews of the Zotac 8800GT AMP edition. Here are a couple of the first ones that I ever saw that blew me away.

There are a lot of reviews for that particular card?even if you?re not planning on getting a high end or even the 8 Series I recommend checking out Zotac?s different series of Nvidia based GPU?s, they have also just recently launched a new site...and they are getting into the motherboard scene offering only Nvidia based Chipsets with support for Intel and AMD?But there still picking things up in that area as far as motherboards. That?s based on their new site they just launched. Well from my point of view I think that Zotac has proved themselves.

Malmsteen!

Seriously... I am sure they are good, but do you work for them or something? Not that I really care. I just find it strange.

I looked on ebay a while ago and they had the 8800GT's but the only one that I know of that has them is Newegg. I tried to send Zotac an email a while back and they didnt reply...go figure...so other than that I dont know were you can get them yet.

Spammy... The real question is, what experience do people have with their warranty support?

You may look here and see the difference between a GT @ 660 and 700MHz-

http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/8800GTs/index.php

I believe Zotac cards are made by PC Partner who also make many cards for Sapphire.

If I were buying a GT today and not planning on keeping the card more than two years. I'd grab the below MSI for 199usd with rebate-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814127329

That card comes 660 out of the box and looks to have a very good cooler.

If I were buying a GT to keep for a while, I'd go XFX or Evga due to their lifetime warranty and official support of end user overclocking and HSF replacement. XFX is a good option for people that resell their cards when they get bored with them because you can transfer your lifetime warranty to your buyer. That builds value. Evga is unique because you may trade a card you just bought in for a better version within 90days of purchase if you change your mind or a better one is released. You pay the difference.

As far as Zotac 8800GT cards go, I've had my hands on a Zotac GT and the build quality was good and the fan behaved well. It was a handsome card too.

I wouldn't pay 239usd or more for a GT with Evga 8800GTS 512Mb cards currently sitting @ Newegg for 259usd with rebate.

Yeah I think EVGA has there umm..."step up program" I think thats what its called yeah I totaly like the idea of the 90 days replace it and then get the new one and just pay the difference...

http://www.evga.com/stepup/default.asp

IDK I guess anyone would just want a card that is the best lol, but at the same time everones wallet talks... I guess it just comes down to the deals the games that are bundled with it and promos and rebates...On neweggs site it says 2 year warranty and on the Zotac site is says 5 years...when I had my XFX 6800 I didnt expect to use it for 5 years Its like ever year they have something new out thats better for the games that I play. But I can understand you pay 300 or 200 bucks for something you want it to last and you want it to be guaranteed for a lifetime even if your not planning on using it a lifetime.

So am I to understand that you think the Zotac is so great because thats the company you bought your 8800GT from? Of course it owns every other card you've ever owned, its an 8800GT, the fact Zotac made it is pointless. Buy a XFX or eVGA 8800GT, hell buy an Asus or MSI 8800GT, you'll still be impressed.
Yes, a 8800GT completely pummels a 6800GT.

This hole thing it turning into a giant mess. I basically just wanted to tell a story...If people cared cool if they didn't, more power to them...I don't understand why you say that It was pointless for them to make it... This hole thing is taking a nasty turn...I guess its my fault that I did not make it clear...I jumped from saying that I had a 6800 and I got the Zotac 8800GT. I tested other 8800GT's and its not like I swapped out my 6800 and then went strait to my 8800GT, I know I made it sound that way. I'm not trying to sell everyone. I'm happy with my purchase... I just want other people to know that there is another big vendor out that has something just as good to offer if not better.

I think what you really mean here is that the 8800GT in general is a great card. A Zotac model will be practically identical to any other brand.

I am OCD in regards to company names... I'd never buy the product because of the name on it. Zotac... GeCube... <insert silly name here>... They will never get my money. Now, it isn't because the brand stinks, I just can't stand the name. Sort of like 'Sager' for laptops. Or Zepto... Or the worst of them all "BenQ"... WTF kind of company name is BenQ?

That is my story and I am sticking to it!

Sorry if we're a little skeptical, but you're a new member posting about a relative new company to the graphics market and your first post reads more like copy written by a marketing guy than a some random dude posting on a web forum.

I also find it interesting that you seem to be very comfortable rattling off Zotac's trademark names, but yet you seem unfamiliar with EVGA's "ummm.... step up program", which everyone who knows jack about video cards is familiar with.

I apologize if you feel that AT forums hasn't given you the warmest of welcomes... Most of us are nice people, but we tend to be a bit skeptical of brand new members pimping new companies/products as a favor to the community. This forum being advertised to by 'compensated endorsers' is not exactly unprecedented. The best way to get the most out of AT forums is to stick around and be a contributing member of the community.
