28q, 1490 (we're doing sat scores too?).

once you start the application process, you'll realize how insignificant numbers are.

Right, until you realize that your app gets tossed as they fall over laughing at your low scores. You've gotta get the interview, which means you've gotta have the scores.

you can add yourself to your own list of retarded mongooses with that comment. and then bend over and call me doctor in 4 years when i finish med school. the only thing to laugh about is your total ignorance.

Remind me to steer clear of your practice. I hope your ability to practice medicine exceeds your grammar and typing abilities.

If I recall correctly, you're in a osteopathic school, and those have lower admission requirements and look at the individual as a whole, not just scores. Allopathic schools, like the one I will be attending starting this fall, look at scores before they even consider the interviewer. So, chill out.

uggg. i work with a bunch of resident "physicians" from some foreign medical schools. Most of them are a bunch of fumbducks. They like to feel important by addressing themselves as doctors when they talk to me. Looks like you'll be one of them soon, eh?

ps. one of them is named Shakur as well. LOL

My iq is supposedly 148 (took iq test like 5th grade by the city psychologist or whoever it was that administered it). Unfortunately my lazy factor is just as high so I don't get to use much of the points.

Dudes, stop flaming. Can't doctors just get along? :(

I just can't stand people who elevate themselves because they're "doctors."

i wasn't even going to touch this thread again, but i just want to clear up a few things for potential pre-meds who are actually looking for useful information.

first of all, i am one of the most low-key guys you'll ever meet, and the only reason i made that comment was because sacrosanctfiend inferred that a 28q will make people "fall over laughing". using that logic, 28 must be a rare score to get into medical school with, be it allopathic or osteopathic, which is ludicrous. if the average mcat score of matriculants hovers around 30, then there must be people both above and below the mean. this is basic statistics if not common sense.

secondly, when i actually start practicing i will insist to be on a first-name basis with my patients. i don't get caught up in the "dr. phil" BS and demand to be called doctor. doctors are people like everybody else. however, i'm not going to sit around when somebody comes laughing in my face.

Allopathic schools, like the one I will be attending starting this fall, look at scores before they even consider the interviewer.

he's right about me attending an osteopathic medical school, but most osteopathic schools--including mine--still have gpa and mcat cut offs, implemented before the interview is offered. any medical school is competitive to get into.

me, i get along fine with other ms's and docs, but i think sacrosanctfiend might have a problem with do's before even starting med school. and you might want to keep your distance from his practice if his posts are any indication of his compassion and sensitivity as a doc: Text

i'm out.

Oh, I don't know about all that. I don't really see any reference to your score of 28 as laughably low. I think he was pointing out that you can't just be a great guy with bad scores and get into med school by aceing an interview. As you yourself pointed out, even your admittedly inferior school has mcat cut offs. I think you're just a bit cranky that, as you again admitted, your score was on the low side of the average, so you need to foster the idea that scores aren't all that important. Also, he made an excellent point about you writing like a fvcking monkey. Of course, I have an English degree so I think proper communication is very important...

The you wasn't pointed at you, it was meant in a general sense (specifically to your "...how insignificant numbers are" comment). I'm not saying 28 is low, I'm saying scores matter, and if you have low scores you won't get an interview. Again, I wasn't insulting you or your score at all. Yes, osteopathic schools still have the same requirements, but they do, generally, have lower standards and look at the whole person, not just scores. This is changing, but that's how it is right now. So, yea. Wrong again.

Edit: And in response to your personal attack, everyone has bad days. That was a bad day for me.

Man sometimes I doubt myself since I love the verbal section so much more than the sciences. Maybe i should stop being premed, become an sociology major and smoke a lot of pot
