I was actually waiting for something like this to come out. I initially thought the psp was kinda overpriced and retarded, but after purchasing it I was pretty amazed at the functionality of this little overpriced gadget. Does alot of things and it helped me alot during business flights (watching movies to pass time is great!) One thing that sux is the UMD media... very expensive compared to a regular dvd... but thats why this psp2tv is great! Because now for people that allready have the psp and umd movies can now watch them all on there big screen tv's at home. I think these accessories would look and sound ridiculous to people that dont own a psp, but for the rest of us its good news. Just like the Ipod, everybody and there greasy grandma's have came out with some kind of accessory for the ipod..... although I do think that the laser pointer attachment for your ipod is a pretty retarded accessory........ nonetheless, I think its good that they came out with this accessory. For you guys that dont own psp's, you might want to check it out.. pretty nifty little gadget.

I'll get one when I can get it for $100, and even then I'll buy it off the forums so Sony can't count another sale 🙂. Hopefully by then they'll have games actually worth playing.

PS2 can play PSP games? Wow!

Yeah, you know, they're the original versions 🙂 Given that 99% of PSP games are nothing more than PS2 ports, I'll take the PS2 versions. Better rez, better quality, cheaper price, and I don't have to dump $300 to get out of the store with the unit and ONE game. $419 plus tax if I were to get this crappy device, too.

PSP sucks, sorry to tell ya. Overpriced, too few games that are worth a damn, UMD movies suck ass for twice the price of a DVD, proprietary memory sticks that cost you 4 times what an equivelent CF card would cost, etc. Sorry, I'm NOT impressed with PSP.

Jason

I gave my PSP to my GF because I found it boring. But your logic sucks. 99% of PSP games are nothing more then PS2 ports? You could say the same thing about PS2 to PS1 games. I won't argue %, but PSP has plenty of games that aren't on the PS2. And as for the movies being "twice as much" There are a few I've seen that were 30 bucks. Most are 20, and last time I checked DVD's wern't any cheaper? DVD's are all around better, but PSP movies are nowhere near twice the price of DVD's. You say the memory stick pro duo is 4x the price of CF. Show me where I can get a 1 gig CF card on the regular for 25 bucks and I'll agree with you. Is the Memory stick expensive? sure, MAYBE twice as much.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a PSP?

yall guys have to keep in mind its just a nice option to have IF you allready own a psp. I allready have a couple of movies in UMD.... It would suck to go out and buy the same movie in dvd format when I could just plug the psp up to the tv.... although Im not too sure how the resolution would be.....

As others have mentioned, PSP2TV would be good for turning your PSP into a portable movie player that you can hook up to a TV. But I'm sure there are already DVD players out there that are cheaper, albeit not as small or portable. So I guess convenience is really the only selling point.

Yeah I think they're missing the point. Yes, the psp is made for portablility. But, if i'm sitting at home with nothing better to do, it would be nice to be able to plug my psp it into a TV for a bigger screen.

Aside from the 4x about a VF card (which was an incorrect key, I meant to hit the 2), my logic is just fine. MOST PSP games are available for PS2. There are *very* few original and interesting games for PSP, a fact which countless people will attest to.

A MSDuo 1GB stick, cheapest price I found at Pricewatch.com, is $81$. By contrast, you can get a 2.2GB Compact Flash card for $65. That's less than half the price of MS Duo when comparing space to price ration.

As for DVD's, are you smoking crack? Your average movie--we're not talking new release here--goes for maybe $10 or so at Wal Mart or Target. New releases are usually from $13-20 depending on the package. I just bought Batman Begins for $13.47 at Wal Mart. So yeah, UMD movies are WAY overpriced.

In any case, the fact that you gave your PSP away to your GF because it's boring just proves exactly what I was saying: There isn't enough compelling game software to really justify the machine.

PSP is 480x272. TV is 720x480. How do you expect it would look? 🙂 This is precisely why to buy DVD's and NOT UMD's: You're better off getting a big memory stick and ripping your DVD's to the PSP's low-rez screen for on-the-go viewing.
