For all you logitech MX series owners, what do u use PS/2 or USB to connect your mouse.

And have u noticed a diff in how it works.

I just tried playing on the on PS/2 port with my MX 500, nothing worked right the scroll or middle mouse button under UT2k3. So i went back to the USB and all is well again. i can even use mouseware.


So I am wondering if anyone else has tried both?

i just switched my mx700 to usb instead of ps2 and it just seems like the mouse movement is smoother (tho i think that might be because i didnt up my ps2 sampling rate or something)
and all the buttons work without isntalling the logitech bloatware

USB all the way. However, I'm still having trouble getting used to the weight of the mouse, considering my sensitivity is 16.8 on most FPS. Can't aim.....

USB is the only way! I haven't used a PS/2 port in ages (except on the last debian install).

ps/2....so when I want to play Counter-Strike, I just plug in my MS optical corded mouse on my front usb ports, at the same time I don't have to remove the mx700 from the ps/2 port.

Why don't you just plug the logitech mouse in the back USB port?

USB is definately superior to PS2, for mice anyway. I ALWAYS can tell a difference in smooth movement.

My MX700 works fine PS2 mode or USB mode, but when I switched over to the USB port movement and everything else seemed smoother, plus all the buttons work now without having to use that pos mouseware. So my vote is, USB all the way!

Also I read somewhere that when your using the MX mice on a PS/2 port that the sampling rate fluctuates between 50 and 125 samples, but when using them as USB mice the sample rate stays at 125 samples

MX500 and MX700...USB...seems better and smoother...I also have the Logitec Cordless Keyboard/Mouse in my PS2 ports and another USB Keyboard..prefer the USB's

If you've been using 16.8 sens on previous gen optical mice, then you should definitely lower your sensitivity. Also, mouseware 9.75 feels MUCH more responsive than mouseware 9.73. I had to lower my sensitivity by 1/2 switching to mouseware 9.75 (with the uselggamescheme turned off in registry).

MX700 on the main system and the MX500 on my A/V system...both USB. I also replaced my MS Natural Pro KB's with the Elite corded KB and I use USB for those as well.

I guess its just me, but I can't really tell a difference with my MX500 between USB (125 samples/second) and PS/2 (jacked up to 200 samples/second).

Well, yes. The sampling rate of USB is a good deal higher than PS/2 by default. However, there are programs out there that let you adjust the sampling rate of the PS/2 port so it is actually a bit faster than USB. So basically, unless you modify your PS/2 sampling rate, the mouse will work a bit better on the faster USB port. The other nice thing about USB is the hot-swapability.

Pete I read by doing that it actually increases CPU usage,anyway I always use USB for both my Logitech keyboard & Logitech mouse .
