For all you FedEx bashers...

I ordered some stuff from CompGeeks on Monday and chose FedEx ground. Scheduled delivery was this coming Tuesday but it came today, Saturday! I don't think I've ever gotten anything from FedEx on a Saturday that wasn't charged the special fee.

Still leads to my belief that FedEx pushes their packages out whereas UPS will store them for days... 🙂

it seems with fedex is if your package got to the final warehouse early in the morning then it will go right on delivery truck regarless of when it supposed to be delivered

I received a CompGeeks package last Saturday! I was shocked, thought I'd have to wait til Monday... but I was pleasantly surprised. 🙂

When I order something through fedex, it comes in a nice white box.

When I order something through UPS, it comes in a beat-up, dinged-up, thrown-around, thrashed from head-to-toe-Ace-Ventura-style box.

Well, all my packages come in decent -> excellent shape. Its just FedEx will come earlier than estimated whereas UPS delivers it on that exact day. There were times when I see the tracking stuck in the same place for days, usually in a warehouse in NJ or where I live...

Actually I think you have it backwards.

There are more UPS bashers (rightfully so) than there are FedEx bashers.

Ordered parts for a server upgrade from Newegg. Fedex ground driver delivered them to a completely different aprtment complex. Then they lost track of the package for almost 3 weeks after picking it up for re-delivery.

Newegg was great about sending a replacement shipment after Fedex lost track of the package, and also paid for return shipment of the lost package when Fedex finally found it weeks later.

Yep, Fedex ground service is 100% great!

Either that or every shipping service has good and bad service, and drivers with and without grade-school reading skills.

I haven't had any issues with either. I must be lucky

fedex ground delivers tuesday through saturday.

most UPS bashing seems to happen because people pay for 3 day and bitch when they don't get 2 day

I've never had any trouble with any package I've ever had delivered.

Well, except once where according to the FedEx website the driver had attempted delivery but my entire family had been home all afternoon, so he obviously didn't try too hard.

Other than that, never any trouble. Guess I'm lucky, from some of the horror stories I've heard.

If you're lucky enough to have consistant delivery folks, get to know them. My FedEx guy has even stopped in the street for me a few times when he saw me outside. It's actually better for them, that way they don't have to come back again.

But yes, UPS seems to have a policy of sitting on packages if they're ahead of schedule- FedEx on occasion will deliver them early- at least my guy will.

FedEx likes to move packages. Even when newegg uses express saver, 2-3 delivery, I get the package in one day. Also helps newegg is less than an hour away.

UPS likes to keep things orderly. I notice if it reaches the zone early, then it will sit in the warehouse unless the driver has nothing to do.

Which hmm, perhaps FedEx has nothing to do?

UPS Nightmare:

UPS lost my GA-8INXP twice. It took over 3 weeks for me to get it, and when it did arrive, it the box was dirty and banged up (but the board was fine), i thought about returning it but then the same thing might happen again. Then i noticed the IDE cables were missing, called the company and they sent them for free, with UPS (they never learn) and it came 3 days later than expected delivery time. I was so mad that I wanted to "sign" for the delivery with a baseball bat, but figured it wasn't worth it.

FedEx always delivered on time, I will never have anything shipped by UPS again.

Newegg.com with the FedEx Express Saver shipping has done great with all my parts. Only one box was bashed in thoguh but there was enough packing peanuts that it did not affect my item.

I never had a problem with either one. Its just every other week you see a bunch of threads complaining about both. This time it was a few days early so I was very surprised and happy. I still miss Outpos's free overnight delivery. For some reason, my stuff only breaks on Fridays. If you ordered from them before 11PM, you'd get the package on Saturday. That helped me out quite often.

I also like how CompGeeks let me choose either UPS or FedEx. In the end though, I would've preferred Priority Mail, since I would've gotten everything Thursday... 🙂

yes fedex is pretty good about that. i've got an account with them, and well they have only lost one thing ever. they did find it just took 3 months. but thats over 150 packages, so it wasnt too bad.

they always deliver on time, and the never hold packages to make their better service seem better.
