Just because someone may not eat something you made, it doesn't mean they were trying to hurt you or anything.

Case in point. Today was a pretty crummy day, so everyone stayed home. Come lunch time, I was the last to the kitchen so everything was gone except cereal, eggs and bagels. I'm sick of bagels, (had one for breakfast all last week), I'm tired of eggs (had them yesterday for lunch) and I wasn't in the mood for cereal (the concept always sounds good, but I never like it after the fact).

Dinner time rolls around and my mom made chicken and some kind of potatoe thing. Not having eaten since 9AM, I was very hungry and not about to settle for something I didn't like. I left (since we rarely eat as a family) and ordered a dinner from the local pizzeria. I come back and I get "You don't like my cooking?" This is one of those questions you can't answer right. "I never said that, I just didn't like what you made today." Well, she responds, - "What do you want me to make then?" and I count, "How about fried chicken instead of just cooking it in the oven?" She answers, "I don't make it good" and I retort, "I'm telling you you make it good"

I get the look and I've been ignored for the past hour. Eighteen years and this is the first time I didn't like dinner my mom made. Now I'm a piece of sh*t because I didn't feel like waiting till tomorrow to eat something.

And by the way, my mom had this nice chicken dish for dinner that my sister brought home last night. It had a chicken dish with mushrooms, carrots, artichoke and cheese in a brown-wine souce. All I had was an orange... :frown:

Quit being so picky.. Dammit.. I can't understand why people don't just eat like the Simpsons more often and ignore whatever tastes they're consuming..

At my house, it was eat without prejudice.

Who cares what it tastes like if it fills you up and is healthy?

Think of all the starving children in China, you ingrate. Your mom slaved over a hot stove for minutes and you don't show any appreciation. ;)

My mom used to make crap I hated all the time. I am living proof that if you get hungry enough, you will eat anything.

Errr, it was a brown souce but has white-wine in it. Might have been a Marsala souce...

Okey, just wait until you live on your own and cook all of your food by yourself, then you will be happy if you eat at all... ;)

I just cook healthy stuff and use loads of spices and garlic, just about everything tastes great if you just spice it up enough...

I know how to cook. I offer but she always declines. My favorite is a terriyaki Salmon steak with some steamed asparagus. Comes out great.

I'm saying though, this was the first time ever that I didn't eat what she cooked. 18 years and not a single complaint until now...

it's not the end of the world to eat something you don't like... you should have just eaten it to avoid hurting your mom's feelings.

So you have one dish, there are seven days in a week, (at least) three meals a day, depending on how much time you have each and every day, some of those meals will not be all that delicious...

It's quite a difference to cook every once in a while and doing it for a whole family several times a day every day of the week...

Well, there you go then, have some pasta and fried chicken, then tell me that isn't tastless... ;)

It all has to do with the seasoning, you don't like the sauce, make your own....

Got any good meatball recepies? I am kinda surprised, i think it is easier to make tomato sauce than meatballs...

Nah, you just gotta learn what stuff is good reheated. I cooked for myself on average 1-2 times a week when I lived alone, the leftovers sustained me the rest of the week.

Pasta is almost ALWAYS better reheated. I eat a lot of pasta when I live alone. Sometimes I think I have italian blood in me, because I can cook some mean pasta :D Beef stew is excellent reheated as well. Same with chinese food, although if it's got seafood in it, then its not always good.

Get yourself a freezer, when i cook stuff like chili con carne, tunafish sauce or meatballs or whatever, i make lots, then i freeze it, when i eat i just microwave it for a few minutes and... presto!

It was like rotisserie without the spinning. Came out very dry and the potatoes were bland. I bought her one of those Showtime Rotisserie things but she made me return it. I try to help but she won't let me. She'll ask me what she should make and I'll tell her and she'll jsut say "I don't make it good". And I always say "I think its good". Its a losing battle. For Christmas she wanted a cookbook, so my sister bought it for her. I looked through it and non-challantly mentioned a few dishes but I was turned down. I even told her I'd try to cook it but again I lost the battle...
