For all you A64 users, do you have Cool'n'Quiet on?

I certainly do!

Just checking how many actually have it, why or why not. Heh.

I have a 3800+ X2 oced to 2600mhz on stock voltage and I Do have coolNquiet enabled. The 5x multiplier gives me 1300mhz instead of the 1000mhz if it was running at stock speeds. I have had no problem running the cpu overclocked and using coolNquiet at the same time.

Yes. Because it will last longer and give me lower temps when im doing stuff like this.

My 3800+ X2 is OC'ed to 2.5 GHz, and I'm using Cool and Quiet with no problems.

Less heat/power , why not use it? (Unless of course it makes your system unstable)

Don't need. Idle at 33C and load at 46C so useless to me anyway. I prefer to have the cpu at full power - this is the reason i bought it. Who cares if it lasts 6 months or a year or whatever.

I had it running, but I did notice a slight delay in the cpu throttling back up to full power when it was needed, and it also doesn't help with overclocking, so I turned it off.

Another X2 3800+ user who uses it. I barely use my computer for anything besides e-mail and listening to music, so it's fine with CnQ.

Why would you want to overclock your system just to have the thing throttle back on the power? I can see it if you are running stock settings and just checking email and surfing the web, but for those who are looking for the ultimate overclock and/or gaming experience...I see no need.

Nope, I don't think my Venice 3000+ @ 2.7 GHz would appreciate C&Q. I don't need it either since my CPU never goes above 37C on load . . .

i used it. but there was a driver issue with my mobo, and it locked at 1000mhz. they fixed it, but i never bothered with it again.

Nope (Opteron 170 here). To be honest I don't know if it would affect my overclocking one way or the other, but my temps are low enough already. At least a good 20°C lower than my Athlon XP was running.

I also agree with what someone else said - I bought the CPU to run it at full speed :p
