I'm getting an Asus CUBX mobo (based on the 440BX chipset) and want to get it running at 133fsb. The really drawback as you all might know is that some graphics cards won't run stable (won't even run in some cases) at higher AGP speeds (89Mhz in this case).
So if you got your BX mobo running at 133 and your graphics card is happy running at 89 pleeeeeease tell me which video card is it.
I'm desperate!!
Thanks in advance!!

The GeForces are able to run at higher speeds. Check out getting one of those.

Matrox G400 Max - Runs perfectly stable, and has kick-ass 2D performance - unlike Nvidias TNT/Geforce cards.

MrCoyote>> No, The PCI cards will not be OC'ed at 133 FSB. All newer BX boards features 1/4 PCI divider - 133/4 = 33.

1st of all thanks everyone for the help.

The Asus 6800 and the voodoo5 are too expensive and I don't need any fancy gaming card at all since this machine will be mainly for audio recording/mixing purposes.

kwisatz,
that's odd cos the Matrox G400 Max was one of the cards that failed to pass a tomshardware.com test in which they tested a bunch of cards to see which ones would run stable at 89MHz.

3dfx Voodoo3 3000 Passed
3dfx Voodoo3 3500 Passed
ATi Rage Fury MAXX Passed
Creative Labs Annihilator Passed
Creative Labs Annihilator PRO Passed
Creative Labs 3D Blaster TNT2 Ultra Passed
ELSA Erazor X Passed
ELSA Erazor III Failed
Diamond Viper II Failed
Diamond Viper V770 Failed
Diamond Viper V770 Ultra Failed
Leadtek WinFast GeForce 256 DDR Failed
Leadtek WinFast GeForce 256 SDR Failed
Matrox G400 MAX Failed
Matrox G400 Failed

I guess that in case I don't find any info on a good 2d card that can run stable at 89 I'll end up grabbing the Voodoo3 which is the cheapest of the bunch.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

elaborater>> Dunno about the test at Toms, but I have No problems with the card. In fact I've had it running on a 140 fsb (92mhz agp) for 2 days in my friends computer...

I also read a test on an other site (can't remember wich) ½ year ago when I bought this card, and it worked fine using 89 AGP...

elaborator>> I did a quick search in the reviews here at Anandtech, and found the BX-133 Video guide. It deals with the subject of out-of-spec AGP speed on 133FSB BX boards. If you look at page 9 in the review you'll see that G400Max passed the test at both 133FSB and 148FSB!

http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1270&p=1

There really shouldn't be any problems running G400Max at 133FSB...

.. And for 2D purposes there's NO card beating the raw performance and excelent image quality of the G400 card.
..And they got the best techsupport I've ever experienced. When I had a problem in Baldurs Gate they actually set up a system with the same componets as mine just to try and correct the problem - when they found it was a driver problem, they reported it to their driver department and the error was corrected in the next driver release 2 weeks later!

elaborater, If you don't need 3D at all, you might want to look for some older(and cheaper :))cards too. E.G. Matrox G200 - you can even get this card in an PCI edition. That way you don't have to worry about AGP speed at all. And for 2D performance/quality this card is as good as any Geforce2...

I bought a couple of those TNT2 Vantra cards (8mb)from 'bummer' in the fs/ft forum for $20 each. I have a celeron on a BX board I just built running smoothly at a 85mhz bus with no problem with the video card. THese cards are pretty good cards for $20, they are not in a GeForce class, but will do most 2d applications without a problem & even do some light duty 3d games -- I got the system to play UT at playible framrates (had to turn most details to 'medium')at 800X600 with this card & a celeron 366 @ 458mhz.

I am running a V7100 on a P3B-F @ 150 MHz. My V6800 Deluxe ran fine too!

PIII 650 @ 975 Rocks.

Asus 3400 TNT1. Runs fine for me, even though it's supposed to be unlikely.

My Voodoo5500 works for about 5-10 minutes in glide, 30-60 minutes in openGL in Tribes. Thats at 133 on my Soyo sy6ba+100. This is with generic pc100 ram. I was wondering if some cards dont work, do they work for a little while and them zzzaap? or just dont work at all? Im thinking about buying some nice Mushkin cas2 pc133 to see if this fixes the problem. Any suggestions for settings on the soyo with a 667 pIII?

I have an OEM 64mb CL GF2 GTS that does *NOT* like anything over 135FSB (90MHz AGP). It wouldn't last 2-3 mins in windows at 138/139 (92MHz AGP).

Although, I just read the article mentioned above on getting AGP working on 133FSB+ by disabling SBA (SideBand Addressing), I'm unable to test that until I get home from work. I will check that out though for sure.

I've even strapped on a new fan & moved the stock fan to the backside. Pix available here of the fan mounting, etc.

I run my system with a 140FSB on my AsusP2B with a Voodoo3 3K with no problem. 93.33 mhz on the AGP bus.
