umm.. a rumour? any hard evidence? any reports? I cant find a thing about this supposed merger/buy out.

I use optimum onine (NYC area) and my speeds are uncapped xfer, solid 6-8mbps down/900k-1000k up actual speeds. If they do anything like you say I'll go postal.
