For a copy machine, does looking at the GREEN LIGHT that scans the image harmful to your eyes? If so, i may be blind.

Ok, at work, we have this copier... Unfortunately, the lid to the copier broke, so when it copies, the GREEN LIGHt/Bar that scans the image is VERY visible.

Every now and then, when I least expect it, I look in that specific direction and the light gets shot into my eyes.. I'm starting to see blotches of white every now and then randomly... i'm starting to get worried.

Question
1. can I go blind from looking at it too much?
2. Does the copy machine emit any radiation i should worry about?

1. No
2. No, it's just light. If it were remotely dangerous there would be a warning sticker like on a laser pointer.

That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Someone could be walking by the copy room and trip or something from temperarly blindness :p

I don't think it'll make you blind, but I also don't think it is good for you :) Maybe request that they keep the copy room door shut until it is repaired.

No, but you will get eye cancer from it. And there's that thing where your skin starts peeling off, but I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you've looked at it more than, say, a dozen times.
