For 6600GT owners, new bios gave me a boost in performance

Gigabyte recently released a "T3" 6600GT with enhanced 1120mhz memory speeds. Since my vanilla Gigabyte 6600GT wasn't doing too good in terms of overclocking, I decided to try the new "T3" bios out.

I crossed my fingers, used the latest NVFLASH V5.1 and booted to DOS praying for success. I renamed the file to "6600GT.ROM" and flashed the bios. (command: a:/nvflash.exe 6600GT.ROM)

Not only was it successful, my ram overclock jumped from a meager 1080mhz OC to 1200mhz! This bios definitely has better timings or voltages for the RAM. Although my core overclock didn't improve, I was able to boost my 3DMark03 score from 8388 to 9049! link

Gigabyte 6600GT Bios 500/1120

Although you risk killing your hardware, for those who really want to squeeze more performance out of your 6600GT, try it out! I think this bios will kill your HDTV functionality, but I'm not sure.

How did you get the idea of doing somthing like this? I mean unless you're absolutly sure of what you're doing, it doesn't sound like a great idea gambling on a $200 worth of hardware..

BTW as your gpu is a real dx9c card, you should use 3dmark 2005 really, if you wanted to increase old 2001se u could force on old dx8.1 and same for 2003 with dx9, seriously use 2005 as its suited for your card.

Is there a better bios to gigabyte's 6600GT GV-NX66T128D? And what are performance gains if any?

I don't have a link to the actual site, but there's a user named "Mavke" over on www.nvnews.net that has a site with all kinds of bios files for the 6800 and 6600 series cards.
