what kind of an upgrade you're looking for?

gaming? server? multimedia? officework? browsing?

well, typically do some music while surf the net, play a game here or there, watch TV with it, no heavy duty video editing or anything like that, maybe edit some photos, you know, the usual. :) I need those parts because the P4 2.4 died with the mb. thank you

go to tigerdirect and look at some mobo+cpu combos. find the cheapest/whatever one you want and spend the rest on memory. Simple

athlon 64 with good AGP8x mobo and 1gig (512x2) of 2.5 CAS RAM with heatspreaders!

thx to newegg for the RAM, you could probably find a good gig kit somewhere else, but if you spend 11 more dollars, you can get 2-3-2-5 latency RAM which is what I would do, OCZ has 'em for that much more.

edit: try the Pentium D 805 with a 50 dollar mobo, but then you'd only end up with 512 megs of RAM for 200 total. dual core with 512megs is not the way to go, however, you could get PCI-e instead of the dying AGP.

what's going to replace the PCI-e 16x lane? AGP-X 32x lanes with quad slot SLI 2.0/crossfire 2.0 support~! (sike...)
