Title speaks for itself... this fan is good. I was using the old taisol and I was at 43C load 40C idle. I'm at 35C idle, 37C load... very impressed.

I leave the side case opened for better cooling but even with the case closed, I CANNOT stand this noise level... its very loud.

Anyone have quieter suggestions for this fan? I really don't want to go back up in the 40's again :p

You could just replace the fan on the hs w/a quieter 60mm model.
Leave the hs attached to the cpu to avoid any chance of damage to mb, or cpu and just release the wire clips that hold the fan on, replace fan and your back in business.

What brand/model of case do you have?
A well designed case should cool more efficently w/the side covers in place.

Sounds good but how much is the cooling difference does the FOP32 fan (I'm thinking thats what your saying) have with the 38 Fan?

Both have 6 dba difference in sound so I have no idea how much quieter it is...

As for my case... its a crap 250 watt atx case that has a blow in fan and fan that blows out from the power supply... not too good for cooling.

Well,...... you loose about +/- 2C with the FOP32-1 (or should I say gain?)
I am running the FOP32-1, it's not really quiet, but not as high-pitched of a whine as the 38!

Just attach an 80mm fan onto the heatsink with strong, tight rubber bands, like I did. :)
I works very very good, and is much much quieter than the little 60mm Delta.

RedRoster2K,
I like the idea of the 80mm fan, but not sure about the rubber band part, think I'll look into some other type of adapter...............?

I really like that Taisol CGK42092 hsf that Anand reviewed, except for the fact that they cost $32. plus $8. for shipping = $40., too much for me, I only paid $20. for my FOP32-1, but I found it at a local pc store.

I suggest you get a YSTeck 27 CFM fan which is quieter than the 38CFM. Though if you slow the fan it'll raise the temps. The only other thing is you use a new HSF like the Alpha PEP66U /w 23 CFM Sunon. If you look at the FOP38 vs. Alpha at http://www.2cooltek.com/newsocket.html. The Alpha cooled 1c better and obviously with a slower fan which should mean low noise.

I ordered me an Alpha PEP66U myself with a 27CFM fan but forgot to plug it in. Ooooch,

The noise from those Delta 38cfm fans is awful. I took off my Alpha PEP66 w/the Delta fan, because I couldn't stand the noise. I'm only using a Golden Orb right now, because of that loud fan.
