FOP32 on a 1.2GHz Tbird?

My current rig is a 700MHz Tbird (no OC) using the Globalwin FOP32.

I'm soon to be going to the 1.2GHz (266MHz FSB) Tbird. Would that HS/F still be okay? If not, what HS/F do you recommend? I WILL eventually be OCing this CPU as well.

Thanks.

It should be fine, that's what compuwiz tests his pre-tested O/C CPUs with... And he gets 1.2s over 1.4... :)

Awesome!

Is there a difference between a FOP32 and a FOP32-1? If so, I imagine I have the FOP32.

The F0P38 uses a "Black Delta" fan.
The F0P32-1 has a 27cfm fan the F0P38 has a 35 cfm fan.
They are both great fans, the F0P38 is louder and runs cooler.

He was asking about the difference between the FOP32 and 32-1 though, not 38. I believe that the -1 just has a slightly improved clip, to make it more AMD-friendly.

he difference between the FOP32 and the FOP32-1 is twofold:

1. FOP32 - the heatsink is black anodized. This was done at Intels request to provide electrical insulation between the CPU and the heatsink itself. This anodization does affect thermal transfer and the FOP 32 runs about 1 degree C hotter than the FOP32-1 because of it. Also. the bottom surface(where it makes contact with the CPU and socket is different than the FOP32-1 and is designed specifically for the Intel CPU and FCPGA socket. You can make the FOP32 work with the AMD CPU and socket but there is an increased possibility of alignment problems.

2. FOP32-1 - the heatsink is not anodized and thus does not provide the electrical insulation Intel requested of Global Win. If runs about 1 degree C cooler than the FOP32. While GlobalWin recommends these to be used with the AMD CPUs only, I use them on both Intel and AMD and have not had a problem or heard from a customer with a problem. In fact I only stock the FOP32-1.

The tech info above was supplied to me by GlobalWin techsupport.

kponds - Isnt it 3 fold on the differences, just to mention that the FOP32-1 introduced a more powerfull spring tention to the clip to meet AMD standards. Not to be crititcal, just adding more info....I never knew "why" the black BTW ..Thanks
