Is it okay to run this cooler directly attached to the motherboard...or does it need to be connected to a power supply source...??? Any experience you guys have had would be a big help. Thanks in advance...

Most motherboards can handle a FOP32. If you have an adapter to use it with the power supply connectors, use it. otherwise, if the FOP32 is running fine, then keep with it.

but a FOP38 should be used with a PS connector, the fan simply draws too much power.

ive been running my FOP-32 on my mobos cpu fan header with no problems for over 6 weeks now , i would not however run the FOP-38 or any other 7000 rpm fan equipped HSF this way.

You will not have a problem using a FOP-32 with any modern mobo fan header. You will have a problem with the FOP-38 though.

Hey group...just for grins I tried connecting the FOP-32 to an extra power connecter in the case. Noticed a big decrease in fan speed and temps went up on Duron 800 from 84f to about 90f. Went back to m/b connection and all seems to be running okay. Thanks again for all of the suggestions...
