FOP32-1 question

Ok...guys (and gals, I guess)I am doing all this one piece at a time ..about to drive myself nuts. I have my Duron 650, and Antec case ...and just got the Global Win FOP32-1 fan and sink.
Wow ..now I see how the other half lives. I been foolin' with super 7, AMD K6 ...and generic fans. This is a hoss!
Anyhoo ...my question is ...Will this thing work Ok? ...it sure does have a stiff spring, and I have seen the stories on cracked Durons. Also I note that the base is extended. Will the Abit, Asus, or new MSI board have enough room for it. (still have to get the board)
Thanks,
Neos (Andrew in AL)

Be sure the heatsink is mounted SQUARE on the CPU. Be sure its not tilted one direction or the other while you're mounting.

The lil foam thingys will help that a lil.

Also, it should fit on all 'big name' motherboards. They account for stuff like that and keep the caps a few cm away from the socket.

I have the same setup, D650 in a KT7 with a FOP32-1 on top. To ensure that I got everything right I just took the board out of my case. All I had to do was take out the 3 cards in my case and the board just slipped right out. I was able to leave all but the ATX connector connected. I just sat the board up on the edge of the case. That made it a breeze to mount the FOP. You have much more leaverage that way and you don't have to worry about breaking stuff off. Once the FOP was on, the board slipped back into place and in 5 mins total time everything was set back up.

Maybe it depends on your case. Mine is easy to work around. I didn't have to remove the power supply, thank goodness.

Yes, heaven forbid four screws to move PS out of way, all of two minutes start to finish. Remove MB why?
