i moved into my condo about a year ago and had no problems. about a month ago i heard some machinery in the unit above. i couldnt tell what was going on, but my guess is the carpet was removed. now i hear exessive "creaking" noise in varios spots in my ceiling at various times. sometimes during the day, night, and early morning. its a little scary as it sounds like someone is going to fall thru the roof. is there anything that can be done about this? i just want some assurance i guess in knowing the roof is stable and nothing wrong with it. i know i probably cant do anything about the noise.

head up to the roof and see what's going on?

baring that, isn't there like building management or something?

Are they going to fall through the roof or the ceiling?

Talk to management? My roommate is a lead foot when he walks in the apartment. Basically he literally stomps as he walks and you can hear it from anywhere in the unit. I told him several times to be more considerate but he just laughs it off. Luckily the downstairs neighbor hasn't complained.

Yeah, I would move into a house. I mean, for the price of a mid-range apartment youre going to get a lower end house...but damn, just being able to not have to worry about what you do and what your neighbors do is awesome!

Yeah exactly and with some basic DIY skills you can make a crappy run down house into something more livable.

Yeah, I lived in a 3 bedroom mini mansion for like $700 a month...was it a bit of a shit hole? Meh, depends on taste...but a little cleaning and yard work made it all the better...I say fuck apartments, Id rather live in a trailer before an apartment again...just not worth it, hate not being able to play my music loud and my action movies explosive!
