In college it's definitely 2 points for the defensive team if they return either a blocked kick or a 2-pt try. In fact, there have been instances where a team has scored with seconds remaining to take a 1 point lead and then falls on the ball rather than trying the PAT just so that it can't be blocked and returned.

I thought it was 2 points, too, but the rule seems to state only one.

That's a legit strategy for the end of the game, when 1 point won't win the game for you, but 1 the wrong way could lose it.
