Food prices keep getting worse?

Anyone else notice that food prices are going up for a lot of different things like dairy and other foods.

Recently I looked at eggs, and medium eggs were tiny and were priced the same still. I have been seeing this a lot lately where the food portion was drastically reduced, but the price increased or stayed the same. Blueberries for instance, use to be able to get a pretty good sized package, but now you can only get a handful for the same price as before.

What's going on with these screwy pricing and food reductions?

Global food shortages. Stock up on gold, guns, and canned goods - the apocalypse is upon us!

You can thank Ecotheists, politicians, and agriculture special interest for a good portion of it. Much of the rest can be blamed on futures speculators trying to guess where the former idiots will go next. The final portion can be blamed on weather and other x-factors.

Yea, I also noticed this funny trend of peoples wages getting "worse" people think they should actually get raises every once in a while.

THIS IS MADNESS!

Good, now you can eat all your food instead of throwing half away. Smaller portions lead to smaller eatings which lead to smaller women which lead to happier men which lead to world peace.

Yup, noticed it big time in the past year or so, mostly in the past few months though. Not sure why it is happening.

I heard hops went up a lot so beer was going to go up, and I buy a ton of beer (although mostly all the same thing), and the price of a 6pk of High Life tall cans has remained a nice $3.79! :)

Dairy is pretty bad. The upped the price of yogurt 20%, got rid of the best kind, so I don't buy it anymore. Blocks of cheese are 20% more. A lot of stuff increased about that amount. Also seems to be less good sales on stuff.

Walmart still has lots of cheap crap though. Price of pop is way more now than a year or two ago.

Surprisingly, fast food prices have remained pretty much the same. Somehow the $1 menu at Mcds still is there.

My parents, wife, and I went to Carnegie Deli last week. The sammiches there are easily bigger than 2 people can eat. I asked how much is thrown out, they said a lot.

It's ridiculous how big the portions of gotten. I wonder if there have been any studies that have shown the % of food taken home that was actually consumed.

Egg sizes are standardized by the USDA. Your medium eggs didn't get smaller, at least not by a significant amount.

..just came back from costco. they're rationing rice. producers are getting a better price for it on the international market so that's where it's going.

Yet economists keep telling us there is little to no inflation...yeah right. Bunch of horseshit if you ask me.

thats nothing compared to how much food rots on the ground or whatever because its not up to perfect grocery standards and isn't worth the labor cost. wasting food isn't the thing keeping food prices high, americas production capacity is insane...its transport and all the other factors getting it to your table.

Rising Price of Gas/Diesel to transport goods to store + More farmers growing corn for ethanol = Higher food prices.
