food poisoning sux

My bro just got taken off in an ambulance... hope that a night in the hospital fixes him up. I think it already ran its course with me, I haven't thrown up in a good 6 hours now.

Anybody know if Tylennol or some other painkiller could help with queasiness/nausea? Anybody know if hot drinks are better than cold drinks for me right now...?

Classes start for me tomarrow, and I was supposed to go to academic advising... Damn I hate this.

BTW- got it from something at olive garden, not sure what because my brother and I had very similar things, but it was also the only place we BOTH ate over the last 24 hours.

Ick, things with carbonation are supposed to help settle your stomach (ginger ale, particularly). Other than that, feel better 🙁

I had it last year, and I had violent episodes for about 30 hours. I've never been so miserable. I lost almost 20 pounds in the process, and I don't have 20 to lose...

I mainly just let it run its course, because I felt helpless. I drank Gatorade in small amounts whenever I could, but that was about it.

Good luck to you!

I got a moderate case of food poisoning on New Years Eve from some sausage my boss gave me for Christmas. It was the worst I've ever gotten it, but fortunately it wasn't that bad, even if it did ruin my plans for going out that night.

Yeah, I had it once and never want to have it again. I had it coming out both ends at the same time. I was on the toilet and projectile vomiting into the bathtub. Never felt so bad in my life. Nasty, nasty stuff!

holy crap, 20 pounds? I'ma keep this s.hit around. I'm 30 lb overweight, so if I stay sick long enough, I'll be set.

(if there is a bright side to it, leave it to me to find it)

Hell I'm even too sick to play WoW. Its bad when your too sick to play video games ) :

happened to me with olive garden also!!

I never went back obviously. Did you eat alfredo?

Have any Gravol in the house?

link, who takes gravol to try and get high?

You must be Canadian 😉

Also try Dramamine, as it is an antiemetic as well. Just stay hydrated and suffer through as best you can.

It may not have necessarily come from Olive Garden. Some causative agents have longer growth times before symptoms occur.

On the other hand if it were from Olive Garden more than likely it was caused by bad hygiene of an employee.

I got it once from Taco Bell of all places. Can't imagine how that happened😉

Was sick for about a week and have never been back after about 4 years.

I got it about a month ago from a local burger joint. Knocked me out for about 30 hours then I was fine. But that is the first time I've ever ralphed 4 times in a night. Man did that hurt. And being out of commission with wicked body aches the whole next day wasn't any fun either.

I'm feeling your pain too...got food poisioning from what seems to be a brocolli/cheese soup or something, at a sports bar. Had a severe case of puking and sh!tting for an entire day. I couldn't even hold down water, every time I drank water, I threw it back up a couple of minutes later. The next day wasn't nearly as bad though, I still felt like sh!t but didn't have the puking/diarrhea combo going on

Part of your nausea is from the dehydration. It is a viscious circle with food poisoning. Your bro will feel better once they load him up with anti emetics and put some fluids back into his system via IV. Right now for you the best thing to do is sip on water. A little bit at a time, a teaspoon every few minutes until you feel up to drinking a small glass. If you can drink water without vomiting, then start off with clear broth, jello's, teas, etc for a day. Then move your way up to dry toast and banana's. If you can keep all that down, your good.

I've never had food poisoning, but if that ever happened to me, i would save my vomit and diarrhea and return it to the restaurant.

I doubt that taking tylenol is going to help, it might make things worst. Try to stay as hydrated as you can and ride it out.

Are you living at home? Do you have someone to keep an eye on you?

I had food poisoning about three weeks ago. Every time I threw up, I said to myself, "Now I know what it's like to die." 😉

I found that italian ices were the best-tasting thing ever. Cold, sweet and liquid once it melts.

If you go to the hospital they'll give you a shot in the ass that makes you quit throwing up.
I got it from shrimp once, never been so sick in all my life. Two bouts of pneumonia take a backseat. They lasted longer, but weren't half as intense as seafood poisoning.
Hope you feel better soon!!!

I have a friend who got sick eating at a fancy restaurant in Peru. He had seafood on a Thursday night. Later, he found out that the restaurant brings in fresh seafood only once a week- on Fridays.
He described how sick he was for over a week; I didn't know it was possible to be so sick and live.
