Woke up at 3AM last night with my gut in a knot, so I took some Pepto Bismol and tried to go back to sleep but soon after my gut felt like it was on fire. I don't need to go into detail about what happened after that, but I will say it was the worst I have ever felt in my life. I did manage to get some sleep and I just called my boss letting him know I'm taking the day off.

No idea what gave me it but what ever it was it did a number on me.

Anyone else have the fun of getting stuck in a bathroom for most of the night wishing you would die?

Have somebody bring you some gatorade. I know the flavors suck, but it is a ready source of potassium and other electrolytes, and you just lost a lot of that from your system.

My guts gradually lowered me into lactose intolerance. Milk became unpredictable, but it only took two times in a month to convince me to start taking a lactase tablet with milk. It was weird, because it just hit without warning. Drink milk, or eat ice cream, whatever the case may have been, and I'd be fine. Then once, yeah, I got to spend a long time in the bathroom.
Ok, maybe it was just an aberration, nothing to worry about. Then about 2 weeks later, same thing. That's when I started with the lactase tablets, and there hasn't been trouble ever since then.

Weird.

Had pretty bad food poisoning in the middle of nowhere in costa rica, so bad in fact that I was hallucinating. After 11 benadryl (threw up about 6 of them) I passed out. The next 6 days I had heartburn, but no place to buy antacid... That sucked. Food poisoning is the worst.

Ate raw chicken once from a mexican place. Worst night/day/night of my life ever. Still a little leery about eating chicken.

The second time I thought I had food poisoning was after eating some chilli cheese dogs. Turned out that was appendicitis though.

Food poisoning: one of the few times in your life that you need to throw up and have diarrhea at the same time... and the only time in your life where you have to decide which end has priority when facing the toilet...

Say what you will about food poisoning, it is a fantastic weight loss method. Almost as good as a tapeworm.

Yes, thank you. I got lucky and had only a light case but since it was my first time getting it I had no idea wtf was going on until I started to clear out my system. Might go into work later today to get back some hours.

Last time that happened to me, my wife was in the recliner recovering from a long and complicated hernia surgery from the day before!
It was a perfect storm. Here I am, her caretaker and she is in pain and/or so looped on drugs she is non functional.
I get the cramps that morning, and at about noon I'm on the pot, and overshoot the trash can by a mile. Projectile vomit FTL!
I'm going "hurrll, Don't get up I'm fi- yarrrl stay in bed plea-RALPH!!!!!"
She comes limping in there anyway, with a roll of paper towels.
I was scared stiff it was contageous, and it would have put her back in the hospital as bad off as she already was.

Ive had it to the point when I was hallucinating/shaking very badly. I am very careful about food now. I never go past expiration, and I cook the crap out of my chicken.

Ive just now started to be able to eat medium filet again...

Yep , it really sucks.
I especially hate when you are so sick that you want to throw up and wishing you could, but can't seem to make yourself.
That is why when I see people on here asking "It is only a day over date , should I throw it out, or is it still good ?"
I tell them, THROW IT OUT. It isn't worth the cost of the food to go through food poisoning .
or as my mom always says "when in doubt, throw it out"

As long as the surface area of your steaks reaches temp you will not get food poisoning unless some other means infected the steak.
