I think he means things like allspice berries and such. Little hard things tend to stay as little hard things bouncing around at high speed.
Mostly I'm thinking of a handful of ginger, garlic, lemon grass, galangal, chilli, and then a load of cumin and coriander seeds and the like.

Yep, got one of those. I'm looking to not spend 40 minutes smushing things up.

So far I've been advised to get 3 things that would do what I want to do worse than the one thing that I want that would do all those jobs quicker!

Is there some sort of anti food processor lobby that I've missed out on? 😆

It will do all those things mediocre. But like I said, go with the the first one if you want one. Me I stick with my knives.

Lemon grass you have to get to the core first anyway. Back to basics for you xd

I mean I could do that (which is what I'm doing now), or I could get some advice on a decent food processor and just chuck it in there and not worry about having fibrous tough bits of lemon grass in my curry and save myself some time.

Like I said, go for it. I doubt it can do fine chop like that lady.

I need to get a new food processor. Help me pick one. It'll mostly be used for slicing potatoes thinly for gratin, making curry pastes and pesto, and the usual chopping and mixing duties. But it really needs to do the finely slicing thing well.

Yup, it looks like the Sage is a rebranded Breville, which is an excellent brand, and is specifically the "Sous Chef 16" model, which is the most insane piece of kitchen hardware ever created. The product page is exactly the same:

If you want to be "done" with your food process journey, this would be your ticket, haha! Note that they also sell the 8mm/16mm dicing kit separately & is a good add-on (budget allowing).

Yup, it looks like the Sage is a rebranded Breville, which is an excellent brand...

I can see why they rebranded, funnily enough Breville is considered a standard brand over here, ok but they aren't going to be selling any £300 food processors!


Edit: Looks like Breville Europe is a different company that split off the original Aussie one so it all makes a bit more sense.

2000w with 240vac is like a 10A motor. You use that for water pumps. Your plug is supposed to top out at 240VAC 13A.

let me put it another way, a 2HP motor pulls 12A at 240VAC single phase.
I wanted to get to the bottom of this and the Austrailian 240v version is also advertised as having a 2000W motor so I reckon that the UK one is 2000W and the US one is limited by the available wall power.

OK. This thing is a beast! I've only done a bit of shredding and grating so far but its pretty impressive in the way it goes through stuff.


It weighs a ton! This is great in that it doesn’t shift at all in use but I can see the wife complaining about getting it out of the cupboard!
I was going to test how accurately and how thinly the slicing disc works so I set it to 1mm and added some saucisson to the feeder. I was going to dial down the thickness in stages but it just ate the saucisson in about a second! (saucisson sec is pretty tough as well and I hate cutting it finely by hand)



Am super pleased with it. Now I just need to forget how much it cost! :oops:
