Why are things you find funny that much more hilarious when you have food in your mouth? IE: Drinking something or eating something?

The "Tell me a joke thread" made me almost spit up my water from the 1st joke and it wasn't even 'that' funny...

Your body many involuntary reactions when you hear a semi-funny/funny joke. One of these is probably exhaling/inhaling air in preparations for laughter. When you have water in your mouth, that air makes you spit.

Not at all. You are only more likely to remember instances when you found something funny and you had something in your mouth.
