No, I'm perfectly sober and I've been looking for this thing for TWO DAYS. I have the playlist, the playback controls, the visualization, the playback order dropdown, and the seek bar. I lack volume.

Well that's BROKE AS SH!T. My MP3s are normalized to a competely different level than the rest of my system audio. Back to Winamp.

The volume control is on the amp on which you connect the audio out from the sound card. I set the volume to maximum in the sound card's control panel.

Preferences > Playback.

You can also customize the UI to display the volume control on the main layout. However, I can't imagine anyone using it. Just program some global key commands to control the volume.

EDIT: Also, in order to utilize the volume control, it must be enabled in the DSP manager. Then, to show the slider on the main layout, you will need the foo_ui_columns and foo_uie_volume plugins. I might also add that if you are serious about using foobar, be prepared to spend a lot of time customizing it to your needs. You'll never like foobar if you decide to revert back to winamp everytime you get stuck.

I don't understand why anyone would want to change the volume. Just use your speakers or the volume control in windows. You can adjust just the wav volume.

My thoughts exactly. IMO, Foobar is a GREAT tool for managing teh collection, but a PISS-POOR media player.

It's impractical...before you get your bits in a knot, I don't mean to say that it sucks, but it is not mentally ergonomic...

I'll admit I use it for playing music, but I'm not an ardent user. I just don't see how it's a poor media player. Or unergonomic, considering it's ridiculously simple (maybe too simple if youc onsider the lack of volume control) UI

It will only be as non-mentally ergonomic as you make it... that's the beauty of foobar :)
