Been meaning to make a thread about this, kinda slipped my mind. :p Anyway, I'm not a huge fan, but this definitely has a softer tone than most of their other stuff, and a more full one at that. Closest thing to it I've heard from them is Aurora, and that's still moderately different. Not entirely sure Grohl's voice is suited to this tone, or maybe he's just used to screaming. :p

That said, as a standalone song I'd give it a 7.5/10

I don't like it that much - sounds more like generic rock than Foo Fighters. 5/10

I didn't realize it was the Foo Fighters when I heard it on the radio. I like it more than all the other songs I've heard by them.

I like it, its different but still you can tell its Foo Fighters (can tell its Grohl at least, I probably would've thought it was a solo project of his). It doesn't sound any more or less generic than their other stuff (especially since plenty of other bands have been using the same formula). At least this one doesn't sound compressed like crazy like so much other rock does now. Nice to see them show that you can change things up while keeping your identity (which is what kills a lot of bands when they try something different, and thus alienates fans). We'll see how the rest of the album turns out.

The harmonic lick, I could do without. The song itself is very good and sounds great. They could really use a lead guitar.......

Foo Fighters are generic (and boring) rock.

It just doesn't have the intensity or passion that old foo fighters has, its never going to be one of the songs that they will be remembered for, like 6/10 IMHO

although nothing can compare with everlong...

I think it's pretty good. Definitely a departure from most of their other stuff, but I think it's still good.

It's a greatest hits album with 2 new songs on it. There's also an acoustic version of Everlong. As much as I've always liked the Foo Fighters, there's nothing here to really write home about.

I do like the song, though. The Foo Fighters are pretty great. I've been known to listen to their entire collection front to back on the drive home before - it's fun to see where they've come from with their style.
