Fonts corrupt? Weirdest error ever... please help!

People!

Now this time it's big-time weird. WORD has gone mad again. Everything works except the FONTS. I click on the fonts dropdown field and word freezes and gives me the error report window. I can't even start Photoshop 7 up... I'm not saying that the two HAVE to do something with each other but I'm very very sure that in this case they are connected. The only thing I see they both use are the FONTS. I did several virus scans in my fonts folder and everything but it's all right. I don't know what else to do!
The weird thing is, Excel, Powerpoint, Frontpage, they all work the fonts perfectly! I can click and change the fonts like it should be in all of the progs. Now is this weird or what!
I can even open documents that are saved in other than the default fonts (Times New Roman, Arial) and it works! But as soon as I want to manually change it and CLICK on fonts, it crashes. Help!

I can't just reinstall word...

Right? I reinstalled the whole office package! Nothing helped... even updated the Office with the newest updates, nothing.

ImageReady also works without a prob. Hey, could it be that PERFECTDISK (Defragmenter) messed something up with those files? Corrupted something?
Because this only started happening recently...!?

...

Just reinstalled both PS 7 and the whole Microsoft Office XP package, defragmented the disk, cleared unneeded registry folders with JV16Powertools and tried.
I get exactly the same errors even AFTER this. What is thiS?

...

Maybe, but what I suspect is that you may have left over garbage in the registry - If your updates don't work, try actually doing a complete uninstall of Office then go to the registry and clean it up (or get one of the registry cleaners to do the job for you) and then reinstall.

...

Hmmm..

Don't know. I thought that's exactly what I did (see above). Maybe the reg cleaner didn't delete the ones it was supposed to. I shuould do it manually, right?
Is there a place where I can download the standard Windows XP Pro fonts... I could delete that folder and replace it and see what happens...?
