When using remote desktop, I've noticed that there is no font smoothing on either of my machines, even though it is enabled on both ends. Both systems reguardless of which is the host and which is the guest do not provide font smoothing. One is an ATI Radeon with latest Catalyst Drivers, and the other is an Intel i810 (horrible) chip.
I'm pretty sure while I was using an nVidia based system to connect to the Intel i810 system, the fonts were smoothed via remote desktop, so this leads me to belive this is a property of the local video drivers..? Which would mean ATI could implement this and fix the jaggies problem? Sounds reasonable doesnt it? I dont have access to an nVidia system to check it out again, so I cant confirm..
