Font differences between OS X and Win7

Okay so some of my profs post slides in PDF, and some of them use Macs. The fonts they've chosen don't play nice with my computers (both Win7). My wife's Macbook displays the PDFs with perfect text. Apostrophes, dashes, and greek letters all show up the way they were intended. My computers print boxes in place of these characters, and sometimes prints boxes in place of spaces. I want to be able to send to onenote with the text the way it was meant to be seen.

That said, is there a package of OS X default installed fonts that I can load onto my Win7 machines? I can't seem to figure out the right queries to throw at Google- most of my searches point to stuff about font rendering comparisons...

If they were PDFs there shouldn't be any font problems... PDFs are more like images than text documents, but that is beside the point.

List of fonts, although this is not a download list, it at least gives you the list and then you might be able to find them another way.

Thanks for the list. These are PDFs of powerpoint slides without fonts embedded. The profs tend to use whatever fonts they like, but I guess I have to start somewhere...
