Follow-up Test: 2003 Saab 9-3 Vector

I agree, I think it's a hot new design...that's why I hope to be getting one (but a Linear model, not vector) in the near future.

drool. I want one. looks like im stuck with this 9000 for now 🙁 The new 9-3 is sweet. It looks like a 2door car but has 4!

We still think that the 9-3's charms outweigh its minor annoyances. But it's not like the good old days when that was enough. With tough competition like Audi's A4 and Acura's polished '04 TSX now in the game, unique styling, comfy seats and the rush of a turbo are no longer enough.
A4 ownz this puppy.

9-3 looks better.

That, and the price I'll get it at wouldn't get me a Golf with an A4 total bodykit. 😉 (GM employee discount)

Whatever...not to mention that the 9-3 is an inferior car in just about every way...especially in the chintzy looking interior

The A4 is pretty much a solid vehicle throught from the engine to the suspension to the interior to the handling. The 9-3 is schitzo.

Thats pretty subjective. I personally love the new Audi look. I like what Saab is doing with their look, I hope they just fix the minor annoyances.

I beleive, you can say that for any Audi until they reach the 75K mile mark... after that, problems begin, and you are like "Dool!"
Still, I love my A4, but parts/service is just ridiculous...

I got to babysit an A4 Quattro for about a year, while my buddy was in Iraq. I would say the A4 is superior in every way, exept for one. The manual shifting in the 9-3 is really smooth. My wife wants a 9-3, so we test drove one and aside from the nice looks and the shifting, I prefer the A4. A4 handles better, rides smoother, performs better, and is more comfortable than the 9-3.

Since I haven't driven both I can't say. In terms of looks 9-3 has it beat. And Audi, as nice as their interioers are, can't match SAAB seats..and to me...seats are more important then interior 😛

Anyway, my point is I don't see either as a sporty car (in my opinion). So if sporty is not my criterie in choosing either of these cars, I'd go with the Saab.
