Even though it was the fault of the city and the contractor, and no one on Obama's campaign, for the placement of the porto-potties, he already did apologize.


edit: the city required handicap accessibility. As the areas typically used adjacent to the sidewalks along Naito Pkwy were in use by another event, this area was the only other handicap accessible even remotely near the podium and street access. I'm a native, I know Waterfront Park well, and I was there. Oh, and BTW, other events at this location frequently use the sidewalk next to the memorial for the porta-potties.

I read that website BTW, and most of those comments were stupid, racist, and hate-filled. I'd vote for Obama solely for knowing that those kind of people are against him, cops or not.

Being a Portland native, well-versed in the local politics, I'd say it is more likely that this happened because the Police Commissioner and unpopular out-going mayor here is a Clinton supporter, while his replacement, just elected in a landslide in the same election that Obama won the OR primaries, is an Obama supporter.
Even more likely is that it was an accidental oversight.

But hey, what do I know, I was only there... some McCain supporter from Dallas is telling us what happened!

You have a point with the rest of your post and the pic, but you sort of lost it when you referred to a police community web site as an 'anti-Obama source'

I don't know, whenever I read an article that ends with "Want to express your outrage and ask for an apology? Contact Senator Obama here," well, that strikes me as being a tad anti-Obama. Granted, policelink may not advocate for or against Obama, but this posting is very clearly intended to portray Obama in a negative light.

And that area of Waterfront Park is generally bad for setting up those rally events for just that reason. They usually end up putting the portajohns under the Hawthorne bridge to the North, but it's an inelegant solution. Still, the campaign staffers should have scouted the spot before turning a memorial into a shithouse lot. That's just good event planning.
