I know how you feel though, any kind of intense light will distract you for a split second, especially if its a moving image. Dangerous and not really worth it IMO.
 
I have two young children and an infant. I think it's awful that parents use this on short trips... If you're on a ten hour marathon that's one thing (though we don't and I'd suggest an alternative would be planning for a couple of rest stops at parks or playlands) but using it on trips to the grocery or whatnot reminds me of the scene in Clockwork orange where he's starpped to the chair and forced to watch movies with his eyelids strapped back...

If its installed by a vendor..you can disable that easily.

Why are other people watching the screen instead of the road?

IMO blinds arnt necessary...cell phones and makeup are more of a problem
